GREG DANIELS IS WRITING THE NEW SERIES
Greg Daniels, who adapted the BBC comedy by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant for the NBC channel in the US, is working on a new version of the series. Daniels has reportedly set up a script development room with a group of writers and will chart a new path for The Office.
However, the new version of one of the best comedy series will not be a “reboot”. The new series will be set in the same world as The Office, starring Steve Carell, and will focus on new characters working in a new office.
The Office premiered in 2005 with a cast that included John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, B.J. Novak, Jenna Fischer, Mindy Kaling, Leslie David Baker, Melora Hardin, Kate Flannery, Brian Baumgartner, Oscar Nuñez and Craig Robinson.
The series, which ran for 9 seasons, ended in 2013 and achieved great success during its airing period. Since the end of the series, there have been speculations about its continuation. The gathering of a group of writers under the leadership of Daniels draws attention as the first major step taken regarding the continuation of the series.
