Loveberry is actually the story of an educated, urban woman who stands on her own feet, and her family. What were the aspects of Loveberry that impressed you the most and made you want to accept the project?
Ebrar Karabakan: As you mentioned, Loveberry is indeed about an educated, urban woman who stands on her feet and her family. But what really drew me in is that this family isn’t quite as they seem due to the experiences and hidden stories in their past. The family’s drama, the unpredictable events they go through, and how the character Begüm reacts and positions herself in these situations really excited me as well.
Ebrar Karabakan: “There are many women among us who feel an overwhelming sense of responsibility, who are deeply committed to their families, and who sacrifice their own lives and pleasures because they carry all the weight on their shoulders.”
Begüm Erdem considers Zuhal as a mother figure; but at the same time, she’s an angry teenager, frustrated with her father, sister, and friends. How would you describe Begüm?
Ebrar Karabakan: The character I portray, Begüm Erdem, is a 17-year-old who grew up without her mother and is wrestling with teenage issues, but she’s able to stay strong thanks to her sister. She’s someone who people might empathize with and understand, yet she also behaves in ways that leave her open to criticism. Begüm isn’t really a troublemaker; she just ends up in difficult situations due to her reactions to events, just like many teenagers. Even though her family shows her plenty of love, she tends to face more issues due to her friend group. If she had gotten more understanding responses from her friends, she probably wouldn’t be so angry, because in reality, all she wants is “to be able to exist.” Even though we’re not alike, I really love Begüm and do my best to understand her.
Loveberry is a series that effectively portrays how even educated and working urban women can give up on living their own lives due to the dynamics within a household. It also features a strong family drama. Where do you think Loveberry resonates most with the audience?
Ebrar Karabakan: There are many women among us who feel an overwhelming sense of responsibility, who are deeply committed to their families, and who sacrifice their own lives and pleasures because they carry all the weight on their shoulders. Even if we don’t experience it directly in our own lives, we can see it or hear about it happening to women around us. I think this situation feels very familiar to the audience as well, and that’s what draws them in.
I really enjoyed watching the four sisters, their relationship with each other, as well as following each of their individual journeys. The chemistry between you, İrem Helvacıoğlu, Aslı İnandık, and Selin Türkmen is so strong. You also share very emotionally intense scenes. How is the set going?
Ebrar Karabakan: The set is even more fun than I anticipated we got really familiar with each other in a very short amount time, and that makes me very happy. I truly feel like the little sister to all three of them; we have a great time together, and I constantly feel their support behind me. 
It’s the same during scenes too; everyone is incredibly helpful to one another, which makes me feel really safe.
Loveberry will be introduced to the world at one of the most important content markets, MIPCOM. What would you like to say to your viewers in Türkiye and around the world?
Ebrar Karabakan: I was incredibly excited when I heard it. It’s an amazing feeling to connect with people from different cultures and countries through such a beautiful project. The fact that acting can have this universal reach, that it can touch people I may never meet through the characters and story, fills me with so much happiness and makes me embrace my work with even more love. I’m thrilled to connect with them!
