The Golden Globe Awards Ceremony, postponed to January 2024 due to the writers’ and actors’ strike in Hollywood, was held with the presentation of Jo Koy and the awards were given.
Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer won the most prestigious award of the night, the “Best Drama Film” award. Oppenheimer also won four other awards. Another film that stood out in the cinema category was Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things. Emma Stone won the “Best Actress” award in the musical/comedy category for her role in Poor Things.
The “Best Actress” award in the Drama category went to Lily Gladstone for her role in master director Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Gladstone also emphasised the Blackfeet language and indigenous culture at the beginning of her award speech.
The best screenplay award went to Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall. The best animated film award went to The Boy and the Heron by legendary manga and anime artist Hayao Miyazaki.
A FIRST AT THE GOLDEN GLOBES
The “Box Office Success” award, which was given for the first time at the Golden Globes this year, went to Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, which grossed approximately 1.4 billion dollars worldwide. Billie Eilish O’Connell and her brother Finneas O’Connell won the best original song award for their song for Barbie.
‘Succession’ in the Golden Globe Television Category
In the television category, Succession, which said goodbye to the screens with its fourth and final season, left its mark on the night. Sarah Snook and Kieran Culkin won the “Best Female” and “Best Male” actor awards for their roles in the series.
