William Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy Hamlet is reimagined for the modern screen in a striking new adaptation.
Riz Ahmed takes on the titular role, portraying a man grappling with his father’s death and navigating a path of vengeance within his family’s empire.

Directed by Aneil Karia and written by Michael Lesslie, the film is set in London’s elite South Asian community, offering a visually rich and culturally contemporary backdrop. The ensemble cast also includes Morfydd Clark as Ophelia, Joe Alwyn as Laertes, Timothy Spall as Polonius, Art Malik as Claudius, Sheeba Chaddha as Gertrude, and Avijit Dutt as the ghost of Hamlet’s father.
The adaptation explores themes of family betrayal, revenge, and self-discovery, blending Shakespeare’s classic narrative with a modern, culturally nuanced perspective. The film is set to premiere in theaters on April 10, 2026.
