8 Lions Entertainment has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with China Media Group (CMG) to establish a framework for collaboration in children’s and family content.
The agreement covers potential cross-border partnerships, including co-production models, international distribution, talent exchange, and emerging media technologies.
Discussions aim to bring together the UK and Chinese creative ecosystems to develop projects that can resonate with global children’s audiences.
CMG’s domestic and international media platforms are expected to provide insights into audience engagement in China and worldwide. 8 Lions will also explore how stories originating in China could be integrated into international IP development processes.
Kate O’Connor, Executive Chair of Animation UK, said the agreement reflects the global competitiveness of the UK animation sector.
In the long term, internationally successful children’s IPs in China, such as The Octonauts, are cited as examples of how sustained cultural collaboration can drive audience growth.
Jiella Esmat, CEO of 8 Lions Entertainment, emphasized the ambition to create global kids brands capable of traveling across platforms, borders, and cultures.
