Netflix has announced its new drama series Queenstown.
Created and written by Chloe Stearns (Wolf Like Me), the series stars Rufus Sewell and Frances O’Connor, with Alycia Debnam-Carey and Te Kohe Tuhaka rounding out the main cast. The eight-episode drama will be directed by Glendyn Ivin and Roseanne Liang.
Set against the glamorous backdrop of Queenstown’s luxury ski scene in New Zealand, the series follows a wealthy family and the people who work for them as power, loyalty and desire ignite a web of conflicts. Production is now underway in Queenstown, marking Netflix’s first locally commissioned original series in New Zealand.
The series is produced by Silent Firework and Runaway Unicorn, with Chloe Stearns, Glendyn Ivin and Jeremy Platt serving as executive producers alongside the wider creative team. A premiere date for the series has not yet been announced.
