Kathryn Newton’s upcoming young adult romance series Just One Day has found a new home at Hulu.
The romantic drama, adapted from Gayle Forman’s novel, was previously being developed at Amazon, but it is now moving forward at Hulu. Sherri Cooper and Jennifer Levin, who previously worked together on Beauty and the Beast, are writing the adaptation.
Newton will play Allyson Healey, a young woman whose carefully organized life takes an unexpected turn during a post-graduation trip to Europe. On the final day of her journey, she meets Willem, a free-spirited young actor who invites her to join him on an unplanned trip to Paris. Allyson decides to take a chance. What begins as an impulsive decision soon becomes a life-changing experience filled with romance, adventure and self-discovery.
Published in 2013, Just One Day tells the story from Allyson’s perspective. Gayle Forman later released Just One Year, which follows the story from Willem’s point of view.
Newton’s recent credits include Abigail, Lisa Frankenstein, Ready or Not 2 and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She is also set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Hulu has not yet announced a premiere date for Just One Day.
