Baby Reindeer breakout Jessica Gunning is returning to Netflix with Feral, the streamer’s upcoming darkly comedic thriller series.
Based on Shirley Conran’s 1987 novel of the same name, Feral will feature Gunning as one of its four leads. Netflix has declined to comment on the project.
What is Feral About?
Feral follows four very different women who are forced to survive on a deadly tropical island after their mining executive husbands are kidnapped.
As they attempt to stay alive, the women must work together and confront whether they can put aside their differences, self-doubt and vanity.
Who does Jessica Gunning play in Feral?
Gunning will play Annie, a quietly dutiful wife who has given up her own ambitions to raise four sons while living under the influence of her domineering husband, Duncan.
The role marks one of Gunning’s first major Netflix projects following her acclaimed performance as Martha in Baby Reindeer, which premiered in April 2024. Her performance earned her several major awards, including an Emmy, Golden Globe and BAFTA TV Award.
Who is Behind Netflix’s Feral?
Feral was created by Jude Mack, with Interview with the Vampire director Emma Freeman set to direct. Oscar-nominated producer Liza Marshall is producing the series alongside Laurie Borg.
Since Baby Reindeer, Jessica Gunning has also appeared in projects including The Christophers, Sunny Dancer and The Magic Faraway Tree, with Anxious People among her upcoming titles.
