The Testaments, the follow-up to Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, has added two new names to its second season. Deborah Ann Woll will appear as recurring guest star Sylvia, while Luke Kirby has joined the cast as guest star Commander Fletcher.
Woll’s character works as a seamstress, a position that brings her into close contact with the wives and daughters of Gilead’s Commanders. Kirby, meanwhile, will play Fletcher, a reclusive Commander living on a farm in one of Gilead’s Colonies. His unconventional personality has reportedly made finding a wife difficult.
New Faces Join the World of Gilead
The casting news follows the addition of Charlie Carrick, who has been promoted to a series regular as Commander Judd, and Haley Wong, who will play Prudence, a pregnant wife.
Based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, The Testaments follows Agnes and Daisy, two young women whose lives unfold under the authoritarian rule of Gilead. The series also brings back Ann Dowd as Aunt Lydia, reprising her role from The Handmaid’s Tale.
The Testaments was created by The Handmaid’s Tale showrunner Bruce Miller, who executive produces alongside Warren Littlefield, Elisabeth Moss and others. MGM Television and 20th Television produce the series. Season 1 premiered in April, while production on Season 2 began in August.
