The Great Animal Forest is returning with a new generation of stories. Daily Fable News, a new 3D animated children’s series inspired by the beloved Dutch television classic De Fabeltjeskrant, has unveiled its first official teaser trailer at MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes.
Developed by Robin de Levita Productions and Monks, the 26-episode series, with each episode running 11 minutes, is aimed at children aged 6–12 while also appealing to parents and longtime fans of the original. The teaser marks the first public reveal of footage from the new production and is now available in English on YouTube.
Mister Owl Returns to the Great Animal Forest
At the centre of Daily Fable News is Mister Owl, who returns as the forest’s trusted newsreader and narrator, reporting on the everyday adventures of its colourful animal inhabitants.
The animals are also attempting to produce their own local news programme, but technical mishaps, misunderstandings and clashing personalities quickly turn even the smallest events into chaotic adventures. Beneath the comedy, the series explores friendship, cooperation, acceptance and community, highlighting how individuals with different opinions and ambitions can learn to live and work together.
The new production brings the familiar characters and setting into a contemporary visual world. Its 3D animation combines richly textured visuals with a warm, tactile aesthetic intended to preserve the handcrafted charm of the original while introducing a fresh look for modern audiences.

Reviving a Dutch Television Classic for Global Audiences
First broadcast in 1968, De Fabeltjeskrant became one of the Netherlands’ best-known children’s television properties. The original series comprised 1,612 episodes and was broadcast in more than 40 countries, reaching generations of viewers.
The franchise is also finding new audiences online. Since early 2026, restored episodes of the original series have been released worldwide through the official De Fabeltjeskrant YouTube channel. Daily Fable News builds on this legacy with entirely new stories and an updated animation style designed for the international children’s television market.
International Debut at MIPJUNIOR and MIPCOM
The series is making its international industry debut at MIPJUNIOR and MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes, where it is featured in the MIPJUNIOR Screening Library. The teaser’s release on October 12 represents the first public presentation of the new series’ footage worldwide.
The project is currently in pre-production and financing, with discussions underway with potential funding partners. Robin de Levita, who serves as writer and creative director, is developing the series alongside writer Patrick Bremmers, with Monks acting as creative and production partner.
With its blend of familiar characters, contemporary animation and themes that resonate across generations, Daily Fable News aims to bring the legacy of De Fabeltjeskrant to a new international audience.
