Videomite is preparing to bring its expanding catalogue of Turkish horror films to the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF) 2026 in Singapore, following strong interest from international buyers at MIPCOM. With a focus on opportunities across Asian television and streaming markets, the company is looking to build on the growing international appetite for horror and the distinctive storytelling traditions of Turkish supernatural cinema.
Taking place from December 1–4 at Marina Bay Sands, ATF will provide Videomite with an opportunity to present its horror slate to broadcasters, streaming platforms, and distributors from across the region.
Turkish Horror Finds New Opportunities in Asia
Horror continues to demonstrate its commercial potential worldwide. Films in the genre generated approximately $2.7 billion at the global box office in 2025, with seven titles earning more than $100 million each. In Asia, distributors have also identified increased demand for horror, while ATF is set to host the third edition of its dedicated Horror Pitch this year.
Videomite’s catalogue is particularly strong in supernatural horror, featuring titles and franchises built around djinn, possession, black magic, rituals, and local folklore. These elements give Turkish horror a distinctive identity within the international genre market.
Academic research into Turkish horror films released between 2004 and 2020 found that djinn featured in 131 of the 152 films examined, highlighting the central role of local mythology in shaping the genre.
Videomite Sees Potential in Asian Markets
For Videomite CEO Dilek Telkes, the response at MIPCOM reinforced the international potential of horror that combines familiar genre conventions with culturally distinctive themes.
“The response to our horror catalogue at MIPCOM confirmed something we had already been seeing in the market: buyers are looking for horror that feels familiar as a genre but brings something culturally different. Turkish horror has exactly that quality. We see significant potential in Asia and are looking forward to continuing those conversations at ATF.”
At ATF 2026, Videomite will present its Turkish horror catalogue to potential partners across Asia, aiming to build on the momentum generated at MIPCOM and explore further opportunities for its titles in international television and streaming markets.
