ABC, the Disney-owned US broadcast network, has made television history by renewing its entire scripted slate for the 2026/27 fall season.
This unprecedented move ensures the return of long-standing hits alongside newer successes, reinforcing the network’s current position of strength. The fall schedule will feature iconic series such as Grey’s Anatomy entering its 23rd season, 9-1-1 its 10th, and Abbott Elementary its 6th, while also making room for the Scrubs reboot, RJ Decker, and 9-1-1: Nashville.
The network is also expanding one of its most popular franchises with the official greenlight of The Rookie: North. Starring Jay Ellis, this new spin-off is slated for a 2027 premiere, while the flagship series, The Rookie, is set to return for its 9th season during the 2027 midseason window.
Beyond scripted drama, ABC’s unscripted powerhouses like Dancing with the Stars, Shark Tank, and Celebrity Jeopardy! have also secured their spots in the fall lineup, with The Bachelor franchise following in early 2027.
Disney Television Group President Craig Erwich highlighted that this robust content strategy, supported by a synergy between ABC and Hulu, will be further bolstered by major live events in 2027, including the Super Bowl, the Grammys, and the Oscars. By maintaining a mix of legacy hits and fresh cultural touchstones, the network continues to fire on all cylinders across both linear and digital platforms.
