The first image from The Last Day, starring Alicia Vikander and Wagner Moura and currently in post-production, has been released.
Victoria Pedretti also stars in the film, which marks the feature directorial debut of artist Rachel Rose, who also wrote the screenplay.
Inspired by Virginia Woolf’s Mrs. Dalloway, the story unfolds over the course of a single summer day in New York, following the intersecting lives of two mothers.
Vikander plays Julia, a woman grappling with a creative crisis, repressed grief, and the reality of her daughter growing up. The characters portrayed by Moura and Pedretti play pivotal roles in Julia’s emotional and psychological transformation.
Producers include Christine Vachon and Pamela Koffler of Killer Films. The project is being introduced to buyers under WestEnd’s “WeLove” label, dedicated to female-driven stories. International sales of The Last Day are being handled by WestEnd Films, with the project launching at the European Film Market (EFM).
