Indonesian director Joko Anwar has released the international teaser for his horror-comedy film Ghost in the Cell.
The film is set for its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival’s Forum section. The story takes place in an Indonesian prison, where a new inmate arrives accompanied by a supernatural creature, challenging the other inmates’ survival instincts.

Director Anwar explained that the ghost in the film symbolizes Indonesia’s deforestation and its consequences. The film is produced by Tia Hasibuan, Rapi Films, South Korea’s Barunson E&A, and Legacy Pictures. Global distribution is handled by Barunson E&A.
Ghost in the Cell is planned for theatrical release in Indonesia in the second half of 2026.
The ensemble cast includes Abimana Aryasatya, Lukman Sardi, Bront Palarae, Aming, Rio Dewanto, Morgan Oey, and Tora Sudiro. The project is the latest production from Come and See Pictures, following their recent Netflix and Amazon projects.
