ITV has commissioned Code Zero, an original police thriller centered on a bank heist that sets off a high-stakes investigation. Andor and Adolescence star Faye Marsay leads the cast as police sergeant Laura Collier.
Created and written by James Hall, whose credits include Death in Paradise and Return to Paradise, the series marks his first original drama for television. Two Brothers Pictures, the company behind The Tourist, Fleabag and The Assassin, is producing in association with All3Media International.
What Is Code Zero About?
Code Zero follows Laura Collier, a pragmatic and no-nonsense police sergeant who is paired with new recruit Cal Walters, played by Sekou Diaby, on his first day on the job. Their introduction to policing quickly turns into a crisis when they become caught up in a meticulously planned bank heist.
The investigation begins when a Code Zero call is made. The term refers to the most urgent call an officer can issue when they are in immediate danger and require emergency assistance. As Laura and her colleagues race to locate the officer and the stolen money, the case begins to have increasingly personal consequences for Laura.
Faye Marsay Leads an Ensemble Cast
The cast also includes Sion Daniel Young, Brendan Coyle, Rachel Shenton, Aneurin Barnard, Anthony Welsh, Steven Cree, Libby Mai, Adam Fidusiewicz, Pooky Quesnel, Kerim Hassan, Christine Adams and Vikash Bhai, among others.
Ashley Way, whose credits include The Guest and Who Is Erin Carter?, directs the first three episodes and serves as executive producer. Claire Winyard directs episodes four through six.
Jack and Harry Williams, Sarah Hammond, Daisy Mount and Alex Mercer executive produce for Two Brothers Pictures alongside Hall. Nikki Wilson is the producer, with Cleo Hetherington serving as associate producer.
Code Zero Begins Filming in Wales
Filming is underway in Cardiff and South Wales, with the production supported by the Welsh Government through Creative Wales. All3Media International will handle international distribution.
ITV Director of Drama Polly Hill is overseeing the production for the broadcaster.
