MIP London will not return for a third edition in 2027. Organizer RX France is ending the two-year-old TV market and launching a new event, MIP Talks, alongside The London Book Fair next March.
MIP London launched in 2025 after MIPTV ended and was held during the London TV Screenings period, with the Savoy Hotel as its main venue. MIP London attracted more than 2,800 delegates in its inaugural year, but attendance reportedly fell to around 2,000 in 2026 as the market faced competition from distributors hosting their own London events and increasingly crowded buyer schedules.
MIP Talks to Focus on IP and Fandom
Set to take place on March 16–17, 2027 at ExCeL London, MIP Talks will run alongside The London Book Fair, which is scheduled for March 16–18. The new conference will explore the connections between entertainment, media and culture, with a focus on how intellectual property travels across sectors and how audiences develop into global fan communities.
The inaugural theme will be From IP to Fandom – and Fandom to Global Business. The programme is expected to bring together creators, entrepreneurs, authors, athletes, brands, platforms and entertainment executives alongside representatives from the wider creative industries.
“The boundaries of entertainment have all but disappeared. IP can come from anywhere, audiences don’t think in sectors and an idea can travel further and faster than ever before,” said Lucy Smith, Director of RX France’s Entertainment Division.
Smith added that MIP Talks will build on MIP London’s focus on understanding the future of the entertainment business by examining “what breaks through, how fandom is built and where new global businesses are emerging.”
Connecting Television and Publishing
The partnership with The London Book Fair reflects the growing overlap between publishing and screen entertainment, particularly as books, authors and literary IP continue to feed film and television development.
Emma Lowe, Director of The London Book Fair, said the partnership would bring together the two industries around the process through which stories are created, developed and introduced to new audiences.
The launch of MIP Talks comes as RX France also reshapes MIPCOM Cannes around a broader IP-focused model, bringing creators, brands, platforms, buyers and sellers together beyond the traditional television market structure.
