Rainmaker Content has acquired worldwide rights to The Animal Sanctuary, a new eight-part unscripted observational documentary series following the rescue and rehabilitation of animals at Tasmania’s Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary.
Produced by Spectral Media, Walking Fish Productions, Orange Entertainment Co., Emmy-winning Campfire Studios and Copper Pot Pictures, the 8 x 60-minute series is set to air on Network 10 in Australia. The production was developed with the assistance of Screen Tasmania and Screen Australia and produced with the assistance of Screen Tasmania in association with VicScreen and Tourism Tasmania.
Inside Tasmania’s Wildlife Rescue Efforts
Billed as “an animal rescue show with a natural history twist,” The Animal Sanctuary combines wildlife observation with conservation storytelling. The series follows Bonorong’s team as they respond to high-stakes rescues and care for some of the world’s most distinctive and endangered animals, before tracking their rehabilitation and return to the wild.
Set against Tasmania’s biodiverse landscape, the series offers access to the day-to-day work of the sanctuary while exploring the relationship between the animals and the people working to protect them.
