Sony Pictures Animation and Amazon MGM Studios are reuniting for a fifth installment in the hit animated franchise, titled The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, which is officially scheduled to hit theaters on October 8, 2027.
Following the pandemic-era release of the fourth film, Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, which went straight to Prime Video due to theater closures, a prior licensing agreement has secured Amazon’s role as a co-producer and paved the way for the franchise’s highly anticipated return to the big screen.
Under the global distribution partnership, Sony will handle the theatrical release of The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania in North America and select foreign territories, while Amazon/MGM will oversee international distribution across its global footprint, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Australia, Brazil, and New Zealand.
In this new chapter of the $1.38 billion-grossing franchise, Dracula has happily settled into retirement, leaving his daughter Mavis to run the legendary resort; however, when a series of spooky and unexplained occurrences send chills through the hotel, the Drac Pack must embark on an adventure to uncover the mystery behind the haunting. Directed by Jennifer Kluska and Alan Hawkins, The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania is produced by Lawrence Jonas, with franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky and Michelle Murdocca serving as executive producers.
