Following the momentum of his historic Academy Award nomination for The Secret Agent, Brazilian star Wagner Moura has officially signed on to lead the upcoming vampire thriller Flesh of the Gods.
The actor is stepping into the role previously held by Oscar Isaac, who departed due to scheduling conflicts. Moura will star alongside Kristen Stewart in this highly anticipated project, which has recently secured A24 as its US distributor.
Set against the neon-soaked backdrop of 1980s Los Angeles, the film follows a wealthy married couple, Raoul and Alex, as they abandon their high-rise luxury for a descent into a surreal nighttime world defined by hedonism, violence, and the supernatural. The project boasts a powerhouse creative team, directed by Mandy visionary Panos Cosmatos and written by Se7en scribe Andrew Kevin Walker, with Adam McKay serving as a producer.
This role marks another significant chapter in Moura’s meteoric rise; having recently become the first Brazilian actor to be nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, his partnership with Stewart under the A24 banner positions Flesh of the Gods as one of the most intriguing genre films on the horizon.
