Netflix has officially greenlit a new competition series based on the world-famous board game Monopoly, produced by Hasbro Entertainment alongside Studio Lambert, the acclaimed powerhouse behind hit shows like Squid Game: The Challenge and The Traitors.
The high-stakes format will feature 12 players competing on a massive, fully realized, life-sized “Monopoly Town Square” modeled after the classic US version of the game. As contestants battle to accumulate wealth, they will face bankruptcy one by one until a single victorious player walks away with a staggering $2 million grand prize.
This official greenlight comes roughly 15 months after Netflix secured the adaptation rights following a highly competitive bidding war, with casting now officially underway for a planned debut in autumn 2027. Additionally, this major announcement coincides with a significant industry shift, as Studio Lambert is now operating under the Banijay Entertainment umbrella following the high-profile merger of its former parent company, All3Media, with Banijay.
