Netflix is bringing Hannah Grace’s bestselling novel Icebreaker to the screen with a new series adaptation.
The story centers on Anastasia Allen, an ambitious figure skater determined to reach the Olympics, and Nate Hawkins, a college hockey star chasing a professional career. After an unexpected incident forces their teams to share the same ice rink, their fierce rivalry gradually gives way to an undeniable connection.
The adaptation is led by Amanda Lasher (Gossip Girl, Togetherness) as showrunner, with Jade Bartlett serving as co-writer and executive producer alongside her. The series is produced by Unwell Productions, with Alex Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and Mina Lefevre executive producing.
Netflix officially unveiled the project during the BANFF World Media Festival. Based on the first novel in Hannah Grace’s Maple Hill series, Icebreaker has become a global publishing phenomenon, spending 70 consecutive weeks on The New York Times bestseller list, selling nearly five million copies worldwide, and being translated into 24 languages.
