GammaTime, the Los Angeles-based micro drama platform founded by former Miramax CEO Bill Block, has entered into a strategic partnership with COL Group International with the goal of elevating the micro-series format into the mainstream entertainment market.
As part of this collaboration, the two companies have committed to co-financing and co-producing four original micro-series, aiming to transform the format from a niche offering into a standardized, globally scalable content genre.
GammaTime and COL Group’s initial project involves licensing the existing series She Means Justice, currently available on COL Group’s FlareFlow app, and co-producing a sequel, with three additional co-productions currently in development.
She Means Justice follows the story of an attorney whose pregnant daughter finds herself threatened by the dangerous son of a powerful client. FlareFlow CEO James Wang noted that the initiative focuses on expanding creative ambition rather than just catalog size, leveraging Hollywood’s genre craftsmanship alongside FlareFlow’s global distribution network and data intelligence.
Looking ahead, GammaTime and COL Group plan to expand the scope of micro-dramas into genres such as thriller, crime, and elevated romance. By integrating traditional Hollywood storytelling discipline with real-time, large-scale audience data, the partners aim to establish a new development model that defines what globally viable micro drama looks like in the modern streaming era.
