The first trailer for Guy Ritchie’s long-awaited action-thriller In the Grey has finally been unveiled.
In the Grey, set for release by Black Bear on May 15, follows an elite covert operations team tasked with stopping a ruthless despot and reclaiming a billion-dollar fortune he has stolen. The action centers on two main operatives: Bronco, a cocky American played by Jake Gyllenhaal who’s highly skilled with guns and explosives, and Sid, a more disciplined Brit portrayed by Henry Cavill, equally adept in high-stakes action. Eiza González stars as the team’s handler, coordinating their dangerous mission. The trailer hints at a story that escalates from an impossible heist into a full-blown battle of strategy, deception, and survival.

Initially announced in 2023, In the Grey continued production under a temporary SAG-AFTRA agreement that allowed actors to work during the strike. Originally slated for release by Lionsgate, the film was pulled due to incomplete post-production, with Black Bear ultimately acquiring the U.S. distribution rights. The producers include John Friedberg, Dave Caplan, Guy Ritchie, and Ivan Atkinson.
Ritchie has maintained an intense slate of projects in recent years. In 2023, he collaborated with Gyllenhaal on The Covenant, followed in 2024 by The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare starring Cavill. Last year saw the release of Fountain of Youth, while Wife and Dog is currently in post-production and Viva La Madness is in production. On the television side, his projects include the second season of MobLand, the recently released Young Sherlock on Prime Video, and the completed second season of The Gentleman, awaiting a Netflix release.
