The first official trailer for director Taika Waititi’s highly anticipated dystopian sci-fi film Klara and the Sun has been released.
Based on Kazuo Ishiguro’s eponymous New York Times bestselling novel, with the acclaimed author himself serving as an executive producer, the story is set in a near-future America.

Klara and the Sun unfolds through the eyes of Klara (played by Jenna Ortega), a solar-powered “Artificial Friend” robot designed to prevent human loneliness. The film explores her deep bond with a young girl named Josie (Mia Tharia), who suffers from a mysterious illness, and her protective mother, portrayed by Amy Adams.
Alongside Ortega and Adams, the film features a star-studded cast including Natasha Lyonne, veteran actor Steve Buscemi, and Aran Murphy, the son of Cillian Murphy. Brought to life through a collaboration between Sony’s 3000 Pictures and Heyday Films, the cinematic adaptation is scheduled to hit theaters on October 23.
