Netflix announced four major new series orders during its 2026 Upfront presentation, while simultaneously expanding its creative partnerships with some of the industry’s most prominent names.
These new projects, ranging from medieval fantasies to sports dramas, reinforce the platform’s ambitious position in the global content market. A major highlight is the collaboration between thriller specialist Harlan Coben and hitmaker David E. Kelley for a series featuring Coben’s beloved character, Myron Bolitar. Netflix has also extended its overall creative partnership with Coben, ensuring a steady stream of his adaptations in the coming years.
The streaming giant is also venturing into medieval fantasy with Barbarians, based on the Vault Comic about a ruthless warrior cursed to use his violence only for good.
In the young-adult space, Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen is teaming up with Kim Kardashian, Emma Roberts, and Alexandra Milchan for Calabasas, an elite school drama.
Additionally, Netflix commissioned an adaptation of the New York Times podcast The Retrievals, produced by LuckyChap, which explores the harrowing legal battle of women operated on without anesthesia.
On the programming front, while hits like Love is Blind (Season 11), My Life With the Walter Boys (Season 4), and Dan Levy’s Big Mistakes (Season 2) received renewals, it was confirmed that the popular legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer will conclude with its upcoming fifth season. Beyond scripted content, Netflix is significantly bolstering its live sports presence by expanding its NFL rights to include games on Christmas Day, the eve of Thanksgiving, and a special match in Australia.
