According to BFI data, film and high-end television (HETV) production spending in the UK reached £6.8 billion in 2025.
Of the total, £4 billion came from HETV production, while feature films accounted for £2.8 billion, with both sectors posting strong year-on-year growth.
Inward investment remained the main growth driver, totaling £5.8 billion and representing 85% of overall production spending.
The UK box office generated £996.8 million in 2025, marking a 2% increase compared to the previous year.
Top-performing titles included A Minecraft Movie, Wicked: For Good, and Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. Independent UK films delivered a steady performance, capturing a 6.8% market share.
Officials from the Department for Culture and the BFI emphasized that tax incentives and creative industry policies played a critical role in the sector’s recovery.
Overall, the 2025 results underscore the UK’s strengthened position as a leading global manufacturing hub.
