Netflix’s adaptation of Little House on the Prairie is set to premiere its first season on July 9, 2026, and has already been renewed for a second season ahead of the debut.
Little House on the Prairie is based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic book series, following the Ingalls family as they navigate life on the American frontier in the 1800s.
The story centers on the strong-willed young Laura Ingalls (Alice Halsey) and her family, her older sister Mary (Skywalker Hughes), father Charles “Pa” Ingalls (Luke Bracey), and mother Caroline “Ma” Ingalls (Crosby Fitzgerald), as they face the challenges of pioneer life, from harsh winters to struggles for survival, while maintaining close family bonds and a sense of community. The series combines family drama, historical context, and heartwarming storytelling, offering a fresh take on the beloved Little House universe.
Executive producers include showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine, Joy Gorman Wettels for Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly for Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox, and Susanna Fogel. The series is produced by CBS Studios and Anonymous Content, and it contributes to Netflix’s “heartland” lineup of hopeful, emotionally grounded programming.
