In a surprising move, Prime Video has officially cancelled Gen V, the popular spin-off of The Boys universe, after its second season.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, the cancellation comes just six months after the conclusion of its eight-episode second run. Set at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, the series followed young-adult superheroes competing for a spot in Vought International’s elite team, “The Seven,” while navigating a dark and bloody coming-of-age story.
Despite the end of Gen V, the broader franchise continues to expand; the prequel series Vought Rising is still on track for a 2027 debut, and The Boys: Mexico remains in active development.
This news arrives as the flagship series, The Boys, is currently airing its fifth and final season, with the grand series finale scheduled for May 20. While fans may be disappointed by the departure from Godolkin University, the creative partnership between Sony, Amazon MGM Studios, Kripke Enterprises, and Point Grey Pictures remains intact as they shift focus to the remaining chapters of the supe-filled saga.
The cancellation marks a strategic realignment for the franchise, centering its future on established prequels and international expansions while the original story draws to a close.
