Seriencamp, one of Germany’s most prestigious television festivals, has officially announced its 2026 winners and a diverse screening lineup ahead of its upcoming edition in Cologne. Taking top honors this year is the ZDF production The Flaws, which secured the Official Competition Award.
The Flaws which follows government employees accidentally rerouted into an elite training program, has garnered significant acclaim for its bold narrative choice to rely almost entirely on physical expression and visual storytelling rather than traditional dialogue. As the festival prepares to run from June 9 to 11, it is also placing a spotlight on relationship dramedies, featuring high-profile screenings such as the Canneseries winner Alice and Steve from Disney+ and Prime Video’s German adaptation of Game of Keys.
The festival’s programming reflects a strong commitment to diverse perspectives, notably through its Spotlight: Female Voices strand, which includes Helena Zegel’s Westend Girl, alongside titles like Serial Cleaner and Escaping Bolivia. In addition to the main competition, creative accolades were handed out to ORF-ZDF’s Buried and the inventive short-form comedy Sheep, which hilariously gives a voice to its ovine cast.
Beyond the screenings, the event will serve as a critical industry hub with the Plot Next strand focusing on the integration of AI and new technologies in production. This year’s honorary Deadline German TV Disruptor Award will be presented to Anke Greifeneder, a key programming executive at Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO Max, recognizing her influential role in reshaping the German media landscape.
