More than a decade after the original cast last appeared together, The Inbetweeners is officially returning. Netflix has confirmed that production is now underway on a new reunion movie, with Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas reprising their iconic roles.
The four actors will return as Will McKenzie, Jay Cartwright, Neil Sutherland and Simon Cooper, respectively, bringing the beloved group of friends back together more than 15 years after the original series ended.
Netflix has also released a first look at the returning cast, featuring the characters alongside Simon’s battered yellow 1996 Fiat Cinquecento Hawaii Edition. The car originally became part of Simon’s story after his parents gave it to him when he passed his driving test in the first season.
What Do We Know About the New The Inbetweeners Movie?
Plot details for the reunion movie are being kept under wraps for now. The original series followed four suburban teenagers as they navigated school, friendship, romance and a seemingly endless series of embarrassing attempts to fit in at the fictional Rudge Park Comprehensive.
The new film will reunite the characters as adults, although Netflix has yet to reveal what brings them back together or what kind of trouble they will find themselves in this time.
Who Is Returning for The Inbetweeners Reunion?
Simon Bird, James Buckley, Blake Harrison and Joe Thomas are all returning to their original roles.
The film will also reunite the show’s creators, Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, who have written and will direct the new project. Claire Jones will produce alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Productions’ Mark Lesbirel.
Beesley and Morris will also executive produce with Caroline Levy, Caroline Leddy, Phil Gilbert, Suzanne Knight, Tom Jordan and Farhana Bhula.
How Did The Inbetweeners Become a Hit?
The Inbetweeners originally aired on Channel 4 between 2008 and 2010, becoming one of the broadcaster’s most successful comedy series. Its popularity later expanded to the big screen with two movies, The Inbetweeners Movie in 2011 and The Inbetweeners 2 in 2014.
The first film opened at No. 1 at the UK box office and set a record at the time for the biggest opening weekend for a British comedy. Its sequel also became a major box-office success.
The possibility of another The Inbetweeners adventure had been circulating since 2025, when Banijay UK CEO Patrick Holland revealed that the company was exploring new stories involving the franchise.
Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the reunion movie.
