ZDF Studios has launched international format sales for Neo Match Up, the ZDFneo entertainment show that puts first impressions and stereotypes to the test through a fast-paced guessing game.
ZDF Studios is bringing Neo Match Up to the international market following the commission of a second batch of episodes for German broadcaster ZDFneo.
Produced by 1Take Films, the unscripted entertainment format premiered on ZDFneo earlier this year with four 30-minute episodes. Four additional episodes are now entering production, with ZDF Studios handling the format’s worldwide distribution rights.
Hosted by comedian and entertainer Parshad Esmaeili, ‘Neo Match Up’ sees a different celebrity guest compete in each episode. The central challenge is simple: contestants must correctly match five people with five identities.
However, the game is designed to challenge assumptions. Contestants can question the participants and rely on their instincts, but unusual professions, unexpected backgrounds and extraordinary life stories can quickly turn first impressions upside down.
A Flexible Unscripted Format for International Adaptation
Combining comedy, celebrity participation and a straightforward guessing mechanic, Neo Match Up is designed as a flexible entertainment format that can be adapted for different territories and audiences.
Its 30-minute episode structure and focus on perception, intuition, and surprise make the format suitable for broadcasters and production companies seeking an accessible unscripted entertainment concept with international adaptation potential.
Ralf Rückauer, VP Unscripted at ZDF Studios, described the format as a contemporary take on a universally familiar game, highlighting its focus on perception, intuition and unexpected reveals.
With new episodes now in production in Germany, ZDF Studios is presenting Neo Match Up to international broadcasters and production partners as part of its global format catalogue.
The format is the latest addition to ZDF Studios’ international offering, which spans scripted and unscripted content for broadcasters and streaming platforms worldwide.
