The series draws inspiration from the 2025 book A Barrister For The Earth by Monica Feria-Tinta, a specialist in public international law renowned for her global legal battles, including the world’s first “rights of nature” case in Ecuador and landmark climate litigation before the UN Human Rights Committee.
A Barrister For The Earth screenplay is being penned by Victoria Asare-Archer, the lead writer and executive producer of Netflix’s Harlan Coben adaptations Missing You and Stay Close.
The narrative will immerse viewers in the high-stakes world of lawyers who utilize the law as a primary weapon against climate change, fighting in courtrooms across the globe to defend the planet. In a strategic collaboration with Climate Spring, an organization dedicated to revolutionizing climate representation in popular culture, the producers aim to deliver environmental justice within the framework of a compelling commercial drama.
