Paramount-owned UK terrestrial channel Channel 5 has re-teamed with independent production company Clapperboard Studios for a scripted series adaptation of Louise Candlish’s bestselling novel, The Heights, with Fox Entertainment Global set to handle international distribution.
Currently filming and scheduled to air later this year, the Fox Entertainment Global’s six-part psychological thriller explores the power of maternal love and how grief can blur the lines between justice and revenge. The series stars Anna Friel as Ellen, a devoted working mother who is highly protective of her children.
The core conflict begins to unfold when her teenage son Lucas, played by Kit Redding, brings a new friend named Kieran, portrayed by Conrad Khan, into their home, causing cracks and secrets to appear in Ellen’s family life.
The ensemble cast also features Diarmuid Noyes, Stephen Tompkinson, Mark Stobbart, and Charis Agbonlahor. Behind the camera, the author Louise Candlish serves as an executive producer, while the screenplay is penned by Simon Tyrrell, and Dominic Leclerc directs and executive produces the project.
