Banijay Entertainment’s hit reality format Temptation Island is continuing its global expansion with a new Danish adaptation.
The local version will be produced by Mastiff Denmark, part of Banijay Nordic, for Viaplay, marking the 28th international adaptation of the format.
Originally launched in the United States in 2001, Temptation Island became part of Banijay’s portfolio in 2012. The format follows couples as they put their relationships to the test while living separately in villas surrounded by groups of singles.
According to Banijay, the format continues to deliver strong ratings and generate significant social media engagement around the world. In Spain, the latest season sparked widespread attention with the viral “Montoya Por Favor” moment. In the United States, the second season on Netflix entered the Global Top 10 English-language series ranking and has already been renewed for a third season. The show has also performed strongly in Belgium and the Netherlands, where it reached the top positions on local streaming platforms.
Mastiff Denmark has extensive experience adapting international formats for local audiences, having previously produced Danish versions of Love Is Blind, Survivor, and SAS: Who Dares Wins.
