BBC and Starz have officially greenlit an eight-episode adaptation of David Nicholls’ bestselling novel You Are Here, with Matthew Macfadyen and Claire Foy set to lead the cast.
You Are Here will be directed by Lenny Abrahamson, whose previous television credits include Normal People.
The story follows Michael and Marnie, two emotionally guarded strangers brought together by a mutual friend. What begins as a walk across England’s iconic Coast to Coast trail gradually develops into an unexpected romance, as the pair confront their pasts, growing attraction and the possibility of a fresh start.
Nicholls has adapted his own novel for the screen and will also serve as an executive producer. Macfadyen and Foy are likewise attached as executive producers alongside the wider creative team.
Filming will take place in England’s Lake District and around Manchester, while Fremantle will handle international distribution of the series.
