BritBox has commissioned a new and contemporary adaptation of the iconic British detective series Dalziel and Pascoe, based on the novels by Reginald Hill.
The series is being developed under an agreement with All3Media International. The drama focuses on the tense but ultimately powerful partnership between veteran detective Dalziel and rule-following newcomer DS Pascoe.
The original series aired for 12 seasons between 1996 and 2007, becoming a cornerstone of British crime television. The new adaptation is co-created for television by Colette Kane and Daisy Martey.
The writing team includes Chris Ryden, Jon Rowe, and Danusia Samal, combining emerging and established voices.
Dalziel and Pascoe series is produced by West Road Pictures, part of the All3Media group. Executive producers for BritBox include Jon Farrar, Stephen Nye, and Lucie Wolfman.
ITV joins the project as the U.K. broadcast partner, with the drama set to air on ITV. The series will stream on BritBox in the U.S. and Canada.
The project aims to honor the legacy of classic British crime storytelling while delivering a modern reinterpretation.
