Netflix’s Sam Bankman-Fried limited series, The Altruists, has added six new cast members to its ensemble.
Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry) will play Duncan Rheingans-Yoo, while Jennifer Grey (Dirty Dancing) joins as Sarah Fisher Ellison. Other new additions to The Altruists include Terry Chen (Almost Famous), Elizabeth Adams (Wayward), Hannah Galway (The Institute), and William Mapother (Lost).
The Altruists centers on Sam Bankman-Fried, played by Anthony Boyle, and Caroline Ellison, portrayed by Julia Garner. The two ambitious, hyper-intelligent young idealists attempted to remake the global financial system in record time, only to be accused of embezzling $8 billion, turning them into Gen Z’s own Bonnie & Clyde.
Returning cast members include Eugene Young, Madison Hu, Karan Soni, Matt Rife, Alex Lawther, and Naomi Okada, with recurring roles filled by Maddie Hasson, Marianna Phung, Paul Reiser, and Robin Weigert.
The eight-episode limited series is co-showrun and executive produced by Graham Moore and Jacqueline Hoyt. The first episode was directed by James Ponsoldt, who also serves as an executive producer. Additional executive producers include Jessie Dicovitsky and Vinnie Malhotra for Higher Ground Productions, Scoop Wasserstein for New York Magazine/Vox Media Studios, and Tonia Davis, Lauren Morelli, and Julia Garner.
“For nearly three years now, Sam and Caroline’s story has been my daily obsession,” Moore tells Tudum. “I’m so grateful to my friends at Netflix and Higher Ground for loving this story not only as much as I do, but in the same way that I do. And we can’t wait to show all of you why.”
