Banijay Media Germany, a creative agency within the Banijay Germany group, has expanded its digital portfolio with the launch of ShowdownTV.
This new streaming service is designed to merge the success of Germany’s largest comedy network, myspass.de, with sports and live events.
The group, which already manages an audience of over 20 million subscribers through its comedy ventures, aims to skyrocket its reach to 250 million monthly views via this new platform. ShowdownTV offers a diverse content slate featuring sports, live competitions, and entertainment, having kicked off with the martial arts series Ringlife Combat. High-profile “sportainment” brands such as TV total Promi Wrestling and Das große Promi-Boxen, along with the reality talk show Nightfever, will be available both live and on-demand.
Managing Director Christian Nienaber highlighted that ShowdownTV is strategically positioned to capture the immediacy of competition-driven content, providing a specialized framework to unlock fresh brand partnership opportunities. This launch aligns with Banijay Entertainment’s broader global push into the sports sector, spearheaded by the recently established “Banijay Sports” division, and its commitment to a robust direct-to-consumer (D2C) strategy.
Developed through a strategic partnership with Innovation Media, the platform is set to drive the expansion of event and competition formats across multiple digital channels.
