European distribution powerhouse Beta Film has solidified a major series of deals, bringing a wave of prestigious dramas from the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands to leading French broadcasters.
Among the most notable acquisitions from Beta Film is the stylish crime drama Bookish, created by and starring Primetime Emmy winner Mark Gatiss. Set in post-war London, the series, which saw a record-breaking premiere in the UK with 1.5 million viewers, has been picked up by CANAL+ for its crime-focused channel, POLAR+.
Joining the French lineup is the internationally acclaimed Professor T, starring Ben Miller. Sold in nearly 120 territories, the smart procedural will now air on the NBCUniversal-backed channel 13ème Rue, continuing the journey of Cambridge’s brilliant criminal mastermind into its fifth season.
Beyond the crime genre, the Dutch royal drama Maxima continues its global streak as its second season premieres on HBO Max France on April 29. The series has performed so well internationally that a third season and a spin-off are already in development. French audiences will also gain access to the German crime movie cycle Death in Denmark, which recently dominated the German market with a massive 28.7% share.
These expansive deals underscore Beta Film’s strategic ability to push high-end European content across borders, proving that multi-national productions are finding a powerful and permanent foothold in the global streaming era.
