Universal Pictures has unveiled a stunning new trailer for The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated adaptation of Homer’s epic, marking his first project since the Oscar-winning success of Oppenheimer.
The Odyssey features Matt Damon in the titular role of Odysseus, with Nolan writing the screenplay as a faithful yet grand reimagining of the ancient poem, produced alongside Emma Thomas under their Syncopy banner.
The trailer offers a first glimpse into an extraordinary ensemble cast, including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson, who portrays the villainous Antinous attempting to seize Ithaca, as well as Charlize Theron in a striking debut as the sorceress Circe.

The new footage showcases the immense scale of Nolan’s vision, highlighting visceral scenes from the Battle of Troy and terrifying encounters with mythological creatures, such as the iconic Cyclops and the cannibalistic giants known as the Laestrygonians. Even the faithful dog Argos makes a brief, emotional appearance.
Shot with cutting-edge new IMAX technology, the film is positioned as a massive cinematic event and is scheduled for a global theatrical release on July 17, 2026, with tickets expected to go on sale as early as this week.
