Banijay Rights has secured the first international adaptation deal for its physical comedy gameshow Let’s Play Ball with Bell Media, which acquired the format for its French-Canadian streaming platform, Crave.
Centered around the frantic transport of gigantic colored balls, the format was initially piloted on YouTube through StukTV, where it attracted more than 1.2 million views. It then evolved into a primetime breakout success during its Dutch debut on SBS6, becoming the channel’s strongest new launch of the year among adults aged 25–44 and earning a second season renewal set to air this summer.
Produced by Sphere Media, the upcoming 10-part, 60-minute French-Canadian adaptation of Banijay Rights will feature two rival teams going head-to-head in a relentless race to move a massive colored ball across increasingly challenging Montreal terrains, ranging from narrow city streets and open countryside to flowing rivers.
Meanwhile, the format continues to build strong international momentum, with development deals already underway in the UK via Banijay UK labels Initial and Zeppotron, while Banijay America’s Bunim/Murray Productions is actively taking Let’s Play Ball to market in the United States.
