European public broadcaster alliance New8 has announced a three-year extension of its co-production partnership, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the international reach and competitiveness of European drama.
The announcement was made during TV Drama Vision at the Göteborg Film Festival by the eight public service broadcasters behind the initiative: SVT (Sweden), DR (Denmark), YLE (Finland), RÚV (Iceland), NRK (Norway), VRT (Flanders), NPO (The Netherlands), and ZDF (Germany).
Under the renewed agreement, New8 partners will expand editorial collaboration and refine their cooperation framework to support high-quality local storytelling with cross-border appeal. The alliance aims to provide producers with long-term stability, financing support, and wider international exposure.
Since its launch in 2023, New8 has backed a diverse slate of socially relevant and innovative drama, including titles such as After Benjamin, Vanguard, Push, and Queen of Fucking Everything. The renewed pact underlines the group’s ambition to champion bold European fiction that reflects shared public values while resonating with audiences beyond national borders.
