Jenna Mattison has been tapped to write the feature adaptation of J.D. Barker’s thriller novel A Caller’s Game.
The project marks the second collaboration between Mattison and Barker, following their work developing The Gimble Files for UCP.
A Caller’s Game centers on controversial radio host Jordan Briggs, who is thrust into a deadly game after receiving a mysterious phone call during a live broadcast. The story has been described as a blend of Die Hard and Talk Radio, combining high-stakes tension with psychological thriller elements.
Originally published in 2021 by Hampton Creek Press, the book quickly gained attention for its gripping premise.
Barker will produce the film alongside Joel Gotler and Greg Pedicin. Mattison has previously adapted works by Sophie Kinsella and James Patterson, and her psychological thriller Haunted is currently in pre-production.
Barker’s books have been published in more than 150 countries and have served as the basis for multiple film and television projects, including Dracul and The Fourth Monkey.
