Adele Parks, one of the UK’s best-selling authors, is seeing her work adapted into a TV series for the first time in her 25-year career.
Studiocanal-backed Strong Film & Television has secured a deal to create a domestic thriller series based on interconnected characters from Parks’ novels Our Beautiful Mess, Playing Away, Lies Lies Lies, and Young Wives’ Tales.
The series will center on last year’s release, Our Beautiful Mess, which follows a mother waiting for her children to return from vacation, only to discover that one is pregnant and has brought along a deeply’ troubled boyfriend, a situation that quickly spirals into a web of secrets and threats.
The creative team features James Strong, known for Mr Bates vs the Post Office and Vigil, as director, while BAFTA winner Loretta Preece joins the project as executive producer. Although Adele Parks has written 25 novels since the millennium and had works like The Image of You and The Stranger in My Home adapted into films, this project marks her official debut in the world of television series.
