A Psychological Story of Guilt and Memory
Ancient Blue follows Kenan Yelkıran (Umut Aksoy), a solitary fisherman whose boat is seized because of his debts. After disappearing during a deadly storm, Kenan washes ashore two months later with no recollection of the time that has passed.
Rather than following a conventional mystery structure, the film explores guilt and repressed memories through a psychological narrative. Cinematographer Murat Emkuzhev combines digital colour imagery with black-and-white 35mm footage and shifting aspect ratios, creating a visual language that draws on expressionist cinema and psychological storytelling. The film also weaves together themes of sibling conflict and mythological figures marked by curses.
Inter Medya Handles International Distribution
Inter Medya is overseeing the film’s international distribution, adding Ancient Blue to its growing feature film catalogue for presentation to global clients and partners.
Winners of the National Feature Film Competition will be announced at the festival’s official closing ceremony.
