In his first leading television role since his breakout in Teen Wolf, Dylan O’Brien is set to headline and executive produce the upcoming Hulu comedy pilot, Lex.
O’Brien will be steering the project alongside writer Sean Clements and veteran comedy producer Paul Simms, with Disney’s 20th Television serving as the studio behind the production.
The series follows the chaotic misadventures of Lex, a disgraced former reality TV star who accidentally captures a murder in the background of a routine $20 Cameo video. This single blunder abruptly thrusts him into a dangerous global conspiracy, forcing him on the run from powerful forces out for his life. To survive, expose the truth, and, most importantly to him, negotiate his way back onto television, Lex must weaponize the unique survival instincts and toxic social dynamics he mastered during his time in the reality TV ringer.
This high-concept comedy marks a major small-screen return for O’Brien, who has largely focused on feature films since leading the Maze Runner franchise. His recent streak includes a celebrated dual role in the black comedy Twinless, which earned him a Special Jury Award for Acting at the Sundance Film Festival, and a starring turn in Sam Raimi’s horror-thriller Send Help, which recently opened at number one at the box office.
