Indie powerhouse A24 has officially locked in the release schedule for The Debut, the latest directorial feature from two-time Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg.
The film is slated for a limited theatrical opening on December 11, 2026, before expanding wide across the United States just in time for the lucrative Christmas holiday frame. Centered on a compelling psychological and artistic transformation, the narrative follows an unassuming housewife, portrayed by Oscar winner Julianne Moore, who is unexpectedly cast in a local community theater production and subsequently loses herself in the role under the spell of an intense, strong-willed director.

The project boasts an impressive, star-studded ensemble that pairs Moore with two-time Oscar nominee Paul Giamatti, alongside Halle Bailey, Cara Buono, and Eisenberg himself in a supporting role. Notably, The Debut marks a creative reunion for Eisenberg and Moore, who previously collaborated on his 2022 directorial debut, When You Finish Saving the World.
In terms of awards positioning, A24 is deploying a calculated Oscar-season rollout strategy identical to the platformed releases of previous Academy Award contenders like The Whale and The Brutalist, with the film virtually guaranteed to make a major splash on the autumn festival circuit before hitting theaters.
