HBO Max has given a 10-episode straight-to-series order to a new Adventure Time spin-off, Adventure Time: Bubblegum & Marceline.
The series follows Princess Bubblegum and Marceline the Vampire Queen as they embark on a journey across the farthest reaches of Ooo, encountering familiar faces and brand-new dangers along the way.
The project marks the third spin-off, following Fionna & Cake and Distant Lands. Adam Muto will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while Fred Seibert and Sam Register also executive produce. The series is being produced in partnership with Cartoon Network Studios.
Amy Gravitt, Executive Vice President of HBO and HBO Max Comedy Programming, said the company is excited to see where Adam Muto’s boundless imagination takes the universe next. Sam Register, President of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, described the series as one of animation’s most inventive and beloved worlds.
