In a major push to expand its content boundaries, Netflix has commissioned a new golf drama titled Jupiter Island, produced in partnership with A24 and Connor Hines, the creator of FX’s recently three-time Emmy-nominated series Love Story.
This project marks the very first release under a newly formed creative partnership between Hines and the streaming giant. Alongside this scripted venture, Netflix is doubling down on creator-led content by striking a multi-faceted, non-exclusive deal with the Stokes Twins (Alex and Alan Stokes), who boast a massive following of over 140 million YouTube subscribers.
Under this agreement, an archive of the twins’ most-watched videos is scheduled to hit the platform on July 18, which will serve as a prelude to a brand-new, long-form series they are developing for a 2027 debut. These high-profile signings perfectly illustrate Netflix’s evolving strategy to move beyond traditional film and television by heavily integrating top digital influencers, publishers like BuzzFeed and Condé Nast, and prominent podcast networks such as Spotify and iHeartMedia into its ecosystem.
