Netflix is expanding its video game adaptation roster with a live-action television series based on Atlus’s iconic JRPG franchise, Persona.
Following the streaming service’s success with animated adaptations like Castlevania and Devil May Cry, this ambitious project will feature Star Trek: Picard writer Christopher Monfette as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer.
The creative muscle behind Persona series also includes Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps, the production banner responsible for Stranger Things, alongside Story Kitchen and Sega’s representative producer Toru Nakahara.
Rooted in the themes of the hit video game series, the adaptation is expected to follow high school students navigating the delicate balance of teenage social life while combatting supernatural threats, tapping into the franchise’s signature narrative focus on youth challenging authoritarianism.
While Netflix has officially declined to comment on Variety‘s exclusive report, the series is highly anticipated to adopt an anthology format, mirroring the games by potentially introducing a new cast and setting with each season.
